Rebuke and Condemn Evil!

open rebuke is better than secret love

There is a strong difference between judging and rebuking.  The distinction is that rebuking seeks to CORRECT the offender rather than condemning them. Unfortunately, many offenders take issue at being corrected and prefer to turn it around and accuse the rebuker (or victim) of wrongdoing rather than admit they were wrong and change their own behavior.  Although the Bible does tell us not to judge one another, it also instructs us very clearly to rebuke those who do evil, as well as those who hurt us.

Another way of looking at rebuking vs. judging is that rebuking involves facts, while judging involves assumptions. Here is an example:  when you disapprove of/protest/confront an abuser for behaving in ways that hurt other people (fact), and he responds by accusing you of not being a good Christian (assumption) (because you are confronting him, not honoring him, or for whatever reason), then you are rebuking him, but he is judging you.

Jesus and the Apostles were very bold and rebuked and condemned evil. They even openly rebuked people in the church for doing evil, in order to strengthen the church… a few examples…

1 Timothy 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 2 Timothy 4:2 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Titus 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
If we don’t warn someone in error to turn from evil, we are partly responsible. “Ezekiel 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”
Jesus was VERY bold openly!…
“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.; O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?; Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?; Thou hypocrite, ye have made it a den of thieves; Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.; Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified.”

It is a grave injustice to see a brother or sister entangled in sin and not address it in Love. Being politically correct or neutral when it comes to sin is not what God has called us to do.We must not be afraid of people or the backlash that comes from speaking the truth, when GOD is the one we must answer to.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father I thank you for helping us to understand that rebuking and condemning evil is a Kingdom command to strengthen your Bride. Help us to come into Unity of the faith Lord and stand firm against the onslaught of the enemy. Thank you for giving us the strength to humble ourselves to receive correction and instruction when it is necessary in our own lives. In Jesus name…Amen

Yep and a smiley face

Over the past month I have been trying to help my daughter get a list of paperwork ad records together for her healthcare class. The list had things like record of her latest physical, a TB test, drug test, immunization record as well as a criminal background check.

We headed to the Dr. office and got all the necessary testing done. While in the Dr. office the nurse ended up telling me that my daughter was behind on her shots.Well I knew that she had just gotten some shots when we were living in Florida a couple of years prior, so I asked the nurse if those same shots were noted in her system, she said they were…. so my daughter ended up getting 5 shots that day… OUCH! What was even more painful was to end up finding that they had immunized her based on someone elses record, a girl with the same name as my daughter. Needless to say, this put the brakes on getting this info to her school in time. Over the next few weeks I spent 4 to 5 hours on the phone and shooting out emails between Florida and Georgia to get the whole situation straight. Finally , deadline day came and she had to have all this stuff faxed to her school by 3:00, only one problem  they gave me the same young lady’s immunization record AGAIN! Uggh! So were down to the wire now, and my daughter is texting me from school over and over asking for the papers. If she didnt have them in time she wouldn’t be able to participate in the clinicals for her class. Finally after a 2 hour convo with Florida…. they faxed it ! So I text my daughter to tell her ” HEY THEY ARE SENDING IT NOW!” ! Okay, a few hours go by and finally I realized I hadn’t heard from her so I sent another text asking…” Did you get it?”

A very unexpected response….. “YEP… :0)”

I was speechless!, ” OMG you have to be kidding me!” I thought. I just went through heck and back trying to get this stuff for her and al she  could say was YEP… and a smiley face! ??? Man, If she only knew how long I have been working on this for her and how much I had to go through to get it done!

Not very long after I had started off on my hissy fit…. The Lord showed me something.

How many times has God orchestrated things for us behind the scenes to bring a blessing into our lives, and gotten not much more than a “YEP and a smiley face”? I thought to myself, God wonderfully maneuvers and orchestrates things for us on our behalf and He does this without going against anyone elses will in the process! My God!

Sometimes God doesn’t even get the Yep and a smiley face…. A lot of the time we pat ourselves on the back and appreciate ourselves for what God has done.

It really made me so aware of the work God is always doing that we can’t always see, until we get the end result.

So from now on I have been praying ” Lord I just want to thank you so much for all the things that I can’t see or sense you doing on my behalf, to work things out in my favor!”

Yep! that’s what I’m gonna do ;0)

Run Til I Finish …. Encouragement for the weary!

When God calls you to your destiny,
He shows you the end result. He shows you the “vision” of what it is He’s calling you to. Often at first we are so full of passion and zeal to go at it like a gladiator running into the arena to face their opponent. But what happens when you get into the center of that arena only to find that your opponent is stronger, faster, mightier and more experienced than you? What happens when the unexpected happens?
When God told Abram that he would be the father of many nations He didn’t show him that he would have to wait until he was almost a hundred years old when he would have his “child of promise”. When God told Noah that a flood would come He didn’t tell him he would be scoffed at by his family and peers for nearly a hundred years before the first drop of rain would fall! When Jesus called Saul to the ministry He didn’t show him that he would be shipwrecked, beaten, jailed, and bitten by a rattlesnake!
Why is it that when God calls us to our destiny, we seem to think that we will NOT have to suffer? Paul said in Hebrews 5:8 of Jesus Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered! This word obedience in the Greek is the word Hupakoe which means,
1. obedience, compliance, submission
2. obedience rendered to anyone’s counsels, an obedience shown in observing the requirements of Christianity
When Christ submitted to The Father’s plan for His life He submitted to the suffering involved as well.
Paul said also in
Php 3:8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for * the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
The Word of God also tells us in Philippians
4:12
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

4:13
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy

Paul also said in
2 Co 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
You see that when we are on that road to destiny we cannot think that it will be without opposition, trial and suffering some things, however we do find that “place of trust” in the “valleys”. The word of God tells us that Jesus is called “the lily of the valley”. This would imply that the valley is where He reveals Himself to us in this way… not on the mountain top! We learn that God’s grace is sufficient in the valley; we find that God’s provision is revealed so sweetly in the valley and we learn to be more intimate with Christ in the valley! The Lord also endows us with supernatural strength when we are weak. The joy of the Lord is truly our strength and we should count it all strength when we face opposition, because it’s for our transition into the next level of glory for our lives.
Besides, I truly believe that if God were to show us all the “mess” in the middle of our destination, we wouldn’t want to go through it, we would cave in and quit.
I would rather be like Paul when all is said and done …
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
2 Tim 4
4:7
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

4:8
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

I’m going to run til I finish! Will you?

Ready,Set, Go!

I think that the way church services are held are a pretty far cry from the way Jesus intended for them to be. I mean, think about it. You have your praise and worship, announcements, tithe and offering then finally after all of that you get to hear God’s word.  Oddly enough they may actually only give 20-25 minutes of Scripture and teaching out of the 3 -4 hours you attend!!!.That’s a lot of time spent AT church!

I believe that church should be more along the lines of a huddle in a football game. People should get together on Sunday and receive the Message that is being taught, then immediately following,Leaders should appoint teams or groups. After the Teams have been established and zones designated, they should go out into the communities and give the message they just received.Bringing souls into the Kingdom of God.

But what normally happens? You go to church spend half the day there, (while looking at your watch to see if it’s past time for the lunch buffet at Golden Corral ) and then you go home. If you are halfway serious about Evangelism you might even tell someone who calls you, what your Pastor preached about today. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP folks!

What did our Lord commission us to do? What is our mission here while we are on planet Earth?

The Word of God says…”Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, ‘This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'” (Luke 24:45-48).  “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation“( Mark 16:15)

You see, we were never meant to just sit around and get fat off the Word and then keep it to ourselves. Many of us don’t even realize the fact that a lot of the people who need to be ministered to will NEVER step foot in a church. They are either too scared of being judged and offended by us or they are too wounded spiritually. Even if you invite everyone in your cell phone or email address book to come to church with you, how many of them actually accept those invitations?  Thought so…

I have been working on a ministry plan of action called “Ready, Set, Go!”

Ready- All members congregate at the sanctuary and receive the message for the day. Readying or preparing themselves for the mission at hand.

Set- or “appoint” Leaders and teams. Equipping them with appropriate ministry tools for the mission ( Tracts, bibles to give out, candy or small toys for children etc.)

Go- Get on those busses or vans or bikes or whatever transportation your church has and get into the field to bring people the Good news about Jesus!

Just imagine what our communities would start to be like if ALL the churches in each of our communities would ban together on Sundays, sharing their resources with each other to get this mission accomplished! WoW, that would be beautiful praise God!

What do you think? Better yet… what will you do?

The true meaning and value of compassion Pt 1.

When you think of compassion …what comes to mind?

about 4 years ago, for me I would have said ….feeling sorry or being compelled to help someone who was going through in some way. However now, the Lord has truly taught me about compassion….. through my own pain and suffering.

September of 2006 I was at work, just walking across the floor of the office when all of a sudden I had a pain so sharp hit me in my lower back like a knife. It caused me to drop slowly to the floor. For the next 3 months I was hospitalized off and on and during this process i began to lose feeling in my right leg and foot, until I totally lost all feeling. Other symptoms came with this that were unexplainable to the physicians…loss of bladder control and bleeding from the rectum. During one of my two week stays at the hospital, I lost my father. He came to visit me the night he died. He came to bring me my favorite take out and watch a movie with me on my laptop. While he was there he tried to console my concerns about how I would take care of my children and bills being in the condition I was in. His last words to me were” Don’t worry about anything Carman, I am going to help take care of you, as long as you have me , you don’t have to worry about anything”. He then kissed me on my forehead went home at 12:00am, and between that time and 4:00 am he died in his sleep of heart disease.

To be continued…
