The pruning season has begun again. There are many things that are laying dormant in your life in the closet of your heart. The Lord is longing to go in deep and pull those things out and reveal them to you. It is at that point that a decision is yours to make. Will you keep the dead things neatly buried in the unfit atmosphere of your heart? Or will you dig a grave and lay them properly to rest where they belong? There are plans that you made that didn’t line up with God’s purpose for your life…lay them down. There are friendships that are no longer bringing life, but causing the Life which resides in you to be drained out…let them go. There are things that you are holding so dear to you and the stench of the corpse has somehow become a sweet aroma to you…break free from it and cast it down in the name of Jesus. There is something that has been laid up for you from your heavenly Father that is going to be released to you…but only if you let the dead things die.
John 15:2 says, “Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.”
“One thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward” (Philippians 3:13-14).
Heavenly Father, help us to discern when it’s time to let go. Lord help us to see the dead things that we need to let die away from our lives and be put in their proper place. We thank you God for helping us to become more and more like you each day. In Jesus name, Amen
