Warning! Foolishness present

warning

Proverbs 14:7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Have you ever been in a situation where someone is talking some crazy stuff either around you or to you, and you find yourself actualy LISTENING to them?

This verse really ministered to me this week! When I read it … THIS is what I heard! “If someone is spouting out foolishness to you or around you RUN…HURRY AND GET AWAY from that person!

Well, I can tell you one thing I put my track shoes to good use this week. (smile)You see when you meditate on God’s word you become more alert and sensitive spiritually to what’s really going on around you.

I started asking God, “Lord why did you say that?” and I began to search the Word to find my answer. First of all God instructed us in Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. We have to guard our hearts because whatever goes into it, comes out of it and manifests in our lives.

Secondly,we have a responsibility to watch what we are listening to because faith comes by HEARING and HEARING BY THE WORD of GOD!

Third, it is also vital that we practice the presence of God and not that of fools!

What is a fool? Psalm 53:1a says 1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Notice it says that the fool says in his HEART, there is no God. So what this should tell us is that They may or may not be just out-rightly saying “God isn’t real” but the words they are speaking are contrary to the truth of God’s word because of their heart condition…. unregenerated!

Today now more than ever we hear people in the movies, on the radio and talk-show hosts spewing out foolishness like, “There are many paths to God” . If we aren’t rooted and grounded in the Word of God, we could become susceptible to this foolish talk; many already are and have been turned from their faith. You see the fool actually believes that WE are the fools and that they are the ones with all the wisdom. Look at what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling-block, and unto the Greeks foolishness. But Glory be to God at what he says next…

23We preach Christ (the Messiah) crucified, [preaching which] to the Jews is a scandal and an offensive stumbling block [that springs a snare or trap], and to the Gentiles it is absurd and utterly unphilosophical nonsense.

24But to those who are called, whether Jew or Greek (Gentile), Christ [is] the Power of God and the Wisdom of God.

25[This is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men, and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.

26For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth.

27[No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame. Hallelujah!

Prayer:

Father , thank you for choosing me before the foundation of the world to be conformed to the image of your Son Jesus. Father help us as believers to stay away from idle and foolish talk. Strengthen us to walk away from conversations that are contrary to the truth of YOUR word. Help us to continually practice your presence, by reading and studying your Word and by listening only to the things that line up with your Word; thereby building up our faith in you and not in the things of this world. We give you all the honor and glory and praise for it in Jesus name.

Amen
